ConstructionCasa Na Xemena is a stunning modern home overlooking the Mediterranean in Ibiza. The site’s natural landscape was crucial in the design of this home.

ConstructionSituated on a sloping triangular site facing the sea, the house is conceived as a series of parallel adjoining rooms. They are created by retaining walls, a common feature in the surrounding Mediterranean landscape.

PlansThe clients ask for a house with two distinct apartments—one for themselves and another for their daughter—and requested a swimming pool on the roof with a view of the city.

DesignThis bright white summer house on the Santorini coastline comprises a series of staggered blocks, designed by Kapsimalis Architects to reflect the traditional housing on the Greek island (+ slideshow).

ConstructionThe volumetric envelope is almost the first of the premises when confronting preexisting and program requirements. The contradiction between a latent hostility in an apparent idyllic condition of the place is also.

PlansNess Point is a new house set in the dramatic landscape of cliffs. The client grew up in the locality and want a modern building that responded to the cultural heritage of this landscape setting.

ConstructionLocated in l’Escala (Girona) near Montgó Cove with no special urban characteristics. A rectangular–shaped plot of 600 square meters surface with all urban services; soft topography, faces north-south oriented along the plot. There was no pre-existing condition at the site, neither vegetation nor built element.

DesignA family house that included certain requirements such as a big gallery, some hermeticism with respect to the street and the possibility of a future expansion that would host the main bedroom.

PlansA house on a slope that was designed with a system of terraces to minimize excavation and maximize the views toward the lake in a functional and symbolic manner.

DesignCasp21 is a 170-square-metre double-height apartment, located on the first floor of a five-storey block dating back to the late 19th century. The building had been used as offices since the 1980s.

PlansLa intervención se emplaza en una parcela de naturaleza rústica en la zona oeste de la isla de Formentera. El extenso programa ha sido dispuesto de manera que, se desvirtúe en el menor grado posible la casa preexistente y, paralelamente, disponga su volumetría de forma que tenga la menor presencia posible desde el frágil entorno inmediato.

PlansUna vivienda unifamiliar de uso permanente construida en un terreno de 900 m2 en esquina en un barrio donde la densidad de construcción no supera las dos casas por manzana. El proyecto decide elevar la vivienda sobre el terreno, liberando así la mayor superficie posible del solar.

DesignThe most contentious part of this apartment in Barcelona, from the point of view of lighting and organization, is clearly the center. We needed to turn the conflict in the center into an area that not only works but is a fascinating and exciting area. And projecting the "do almost nothing" in other parts of the apartment.

PlansThe project began as the revamp of an existing summerhouse dating back to the 1940s. The initial plan included additions and alterations to the existing structure. However, due to building regulations stipulating that the footprint remain unchanged, house was rebuilt entirely.

ConstructionRambla House, is a weekend house. The site is next to the coastal pedestrian promenade with a privileged view of the sea.

DesignThe commission of the house comes together with the explicit petition to use stone as the main construction material. The decision doesn't respond necessarily to esthetic reasons but more likely to its common existence in the place, its little need for maintenance and its low cost for built square meter. Such premises are taken as a project challenge both in a structural, typological and esthetic way.

PlansEl proyecto se trata de la renovación de una casa a través de la incorporación de una serie de patios que proponen una nueva relación entre interior y exterior.

DesignEsta vivienda unifamiliar se sitúa en una ladera salpicada de casas con vistas al mar. Se trata de una edificación de los años 70 con un fuerte carácter. La distribución, muy compartimentada, no se adecuaba a las necesidades actuales de los clientes por lo que el proyecto ha consistido en una reforma interior que adecuase la distribución al nuevo programa funcional.

Sin pretensiones se logró una arquitectura sencilla, básica. Los materiales locales como el cañizo y la piedra, además del diseño compacto hicieron posible su construcción.

DesignThe clients asked for a house that had to be close from the outside but open from the inside. Had to have introverted facades, to maintain the privacy of their adjacent plot, but at the same time generous views towards all its carefully landscaped perimeter.

ConstructionA house that occupies a corner plot, for this reason, instead of adopting the usual uni-directional organization (street-patio) the proposal is organized in two perpendicular directions. The house does not have a dominant direction. The house wants to look in all directions.

PlansThis is a project in a disorganized house without hierarchies of spaces, where the stays on the center of the house were "punished" for its corridor, so the proposal strikes the action in the center of the house, getting a "joint-space" that works as a studio, storage space, laundry room and kitchen.

ConstructionEl proyecto de la Casa Bastida consiste en la rehabilitación de una vivienda unifamiliar en el marco incomparable de la Costa Brava, superponiendo al volumen construido un elemento ligero y configurable, capaz de matizar la relación entre el edificio existente y el enclave privilegiado donde se sitúa. La intervención se propone estrechar la relación entre la casa y su entorno privilegiado.

PlansUna casa en el marco incomparable de la Costa Brava, que se situa escalonada en un terreno de pronunciado desnivel hacia el mar y con buena orientación solar. El proyecto es la suma de varios cuerpos estucados en blanco, colocados en la pendiente y perforados de manera constante, con huecos rectangulares idénticos, que permiten valorar, por contraposición, las formas de la naturaleza que lo rodea.

The owners made the decision of spending as much time as possible in their summerhouse in Sant Mori, a rural village among forests and fields, that offers their inhabitants the typical landscape of the Empordà. This project is an effort to reduce to a minimum the strictly functional and structural aspects, with the objective to reach maximum spatial quality.
