On these dates that we love so much, the island dresses up with lights, joy and the unmistakable aroma of roasted chestnuts. Yes, you've got it right! We are entering the most magical time of the year and the whole of Mallorca begins to celebrate it with the typical Christmas markets scattered throughout the island's towns and villages. And that's why we've written this article so that you don't miss any of the Christmas markets that town councils, artisans and traders have already started to prepare.
But... first of all, the typical Christmas lights switch-on in Palma 2023 will be on Thursday 23rd November.
Now let's get down to the Christmas markets ;) In the heart of Palma, the island's capital, the Christmas market will change location, but will continue to welcome all its visitors. And don't worry about the cold! Mallorca at this time of year does not reach its lowest temperatures and you will be able to enjoy a mild climate to browse through all the stalls.
From 23 November to 7 January, the Christmas market in Plaza Mayor offers a unique experience that Central European visitors may find different. The main focus is on the sale of nativity scenes and associated decorative items, displayed in containers that may not seem very festive at first glance. If you have no particular interest in 'nativity scenes', you may prefer to skip this visit. However, if you love to immerse yourself in authentic Christmas tradition, it's worth exploring and discovering the uniqueness of this market in Plaza Mayor!
The renovation works in Plaça d'Espanya will force the Christmas stalls, which used to be located in this space and in Porta Pintada, to be moved to the nearby Parc de ses Estacions.
La Rambla looks great during the Christmas market. The stalls are quite practical and simple, but the illuminated avenue, with people strolling under the light-filled trees in a Christmassy atmosphere, is just lovely - and just before the end, there's an amazing waffle stall! Not to be missed!
It's as if Mallorca is dressing up for Christmas! There is no Christmas market as such, but the opulence and beautiful Christmas decorations create a charming atmosphere. In addition, the cafés with their gas fireplaces add a cosy touch. Imagine sitting outside on warm days, enjoying a comforting pre-Christmas chocolate or a delicious cocktail - a stylish Christmas experience in Mallorca!
Every December, the Pueblo Español in Mallorca is transformed into a magical Christmas market! This architectural treasure in Palma, with replicas of Spain's most emblematic buildings, creates a unique setting for this special event. The most surprising thing? It snows! Every day at 18:00, snow cannons make for a truly enchanting experience, and not just for the little ones! The Christmas Market will be open this year from 1 to 17 December, daily from 12:00 to 23:00. Admission costs approximately 10 euros for adults and 2 euros for children, with children under the age of 6 being free.
Located less than 1 km from the bay of Palma, the Pueblo Español is easily accessible by car and has the convenience of free parking, although it tends to fill up during the Christmas market season. However, we recommend taking advantage of the efficient public transport to get there and make the most of the experience - we look forward to immersing you in the Christmas magic!
For the second year running, this market will be held at the Palacio de Congresos. There will be a family concert, community games, storytelling, face painting, street food and music by various DJs, but above all a space for small local entrepreneurs and craft projects. You can find everything from a selection of Mallorcan knives, to unique handmade plates, unique houseplants or artisanal honey from organic beekeepers. Such a diversity of products will be displayed in more than 70 stalls in the Palau de Congressos, which has hosted the ninth edition.
